What a night!

Well yesterday was a fairly good day, it didn't rain! Yippee Skippee... At the moment though it looks like it could be building up to something. So much for getting the walls done on the basement today. Maybe tomorrow???

Any way back to yesterday. All was going well until I decided to run the majority of the moo's to the bottom pasture so I could feed in peace. A ton of wet brewers and 17 buckets of grain is just to much to do, by myself with only the help of 90 some odd head of bovines. This seemed like a good idea. Well there were only 30 or so left to go and I thought I could get done in time. Well you know how it goes... something else demanded my attention. So when I finally get back to the task of feeding the rest of the cows are done milking and of course off the holding pen. No worries though they were down the lane to the bottom, I knew (ok thought) that I could get it done before they came up. HA Moving as fast as I can on a slow tractor, the brewers gets dumped, and the grain flung far and wide.

In the meantime the 60 other cows have gotten mad and went off. ARGH!!! Normally they don't go far so I start calling, and calling and screaming for them. NO such luck... So I head off in to the very back of the place, thinking all the while that they couldn't have come back here, not when they KNOW they get fed at noon every blooming day. But they had, and would they believe me when I called to them???? NO! Just when I was about to give up, Spooky.... good ole Spooky is leading the herd back up to the feed. Not that much will be left by the time we get up there but at least they got something.

The afternoon was uneventful since I had a nice long and much need nap. Evening chores started normally enough. I changed out a 3 sets of inflation's and tried to fix the north side feeder while my grandmother went for the cows. After I did this and failed at getting the controller fixed from the cows playing with it, I made a quick trip to town.

I had no more than gotten back and started on my chores, than Krissie (my aunt) comes and gets me, there is a problem in the milk barn. I was rather ticked since I was loosing daylight to feed the 40 head their feed. Anyway I noticed that the vacuum pump wasn't going and I get in the barn and the pipeline is apart and Crimson is stuck between the back door and back splash pan. Her front half is in the pit while her back half is stuck up where they come in. Note the is a space less than 18" wide... more like 14". Needless to say there was a lot of praying, and calling to find help. Right at the moment when we had found someone she managed to wiggle free and ran out of the barn. I would have to if I were her. The poor dear... I'm so thankful she is alive and well though.
