Found but was he ever lost???

For the past two days... TWO days I have been trying to find and get out a cow who I knew had calved but I couldn't find the calf. And since we have such a terrible coyote problem caused but the Mennonites and their mega turkey barns. Anyway... I just thought the coyotes had gotten it since a few years ago they would sit and wait for the calf to be born and take it right after before the momma had time to get up. I have an extreme dislike of coyotes as I'm sure you can imagine.

Well last evening I took Krissie out to get the danged cow ONCE more so she could be milked... and low and behold what was with her???? The most beautiful BULL calve. He would have made such a pretty heifer. It's like I told the vet... all bulls would have made nice heifers. :) Anyway we got them both up and he is in the barn in a very mad state and she was milked and I'm sure not in a happy state of bovine mental health.

NEXT my grandmother and I set out to give one of the big steers some shots. He's under the weather. SO we try to get him next to a fence with the truck pulled close to make a make-shift pen. Well that didn't work. So I ended walking the dunce all the way up to the chute and head gate.Well it only took 1:30, going thru two fences, getting in the pond, and some mighty fancy foot work to get him in. Thankfully we had a nice breeze last night. After 90 degrees and humidity from and earlier storm it was a muggy day.

So at least no fence post fell into my face, no milk down my legs, I didn't trip and or fall... all in all a good day.
