The dog days of summer have arrived and are in full swing. The heat indexes here are in the 100's and the humidity is just about unbearable. Keeping the house cool is only thing that really matters these days besides chores and other very important things.
No canning until it's cooler... it's hard to keep the kitchen cool when we aren't even cooking let along canning. It's so warm in the kitchen now that the butter has melted on it's own due to the air temp. Tip for those of you building a home. NEVER ever use rocks! They retain the heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
This weather is hard on my "kids". The three youngest Summer (hey when it's hot naming goes out the window), Houdini ( the lost calf who was found... thank you Lord), Trouble... are all taking it the hardest... they are so hot even in a breeze that they weren't thrilled about eating. Who can blame them, I feel the same way. The only thing that even remotely taste good is fruit and even then it's a stretch.
The milking moos are under such stress, even with having water on them twice a day they are still hot and miserable. The dears... such hard working girl...
So the name of the game is keep cool... limit everything to a minimum.
Hoping the heatwave breaks soon... later from a hot and humid SWMO dairy...
