Yesterday...

And the day before that seemed awfully hectic around here. Small bovines aren't happy with their new lodgings, pasture, menu... and so they have been constantly getting out. WHERE I haven't a clue! All I know is that it grates on my nerves. And last night was the last straw, the one that broke this camels back, that needle in the hay stack that just pricked an already painful finger and made it BLEED! You get my point... Right???

Last night the milking moos seemed to have a case of the ho hums. The sun had come out after being in hiding and this being said the moos had filled their stomachs and then sunned themselves all day. Until I rudely came along and woke them from their slumber to be milked. After getting them started up, I notice the bain of my existence were out... AGAIN. Grrr... I yelled to K. to bring them out of the lot and we would yet AGAIN for the second day in a row divide and concur! Oh the best laid plans of mice and men... or maybe calves and women... We get the moos on the holding pen and proceed to take the calves BACK out to their pen and put the bigger one OUT where their belong. BUT would these little darlings go through an open gate??? Of course not... About this time I looked over to the concrete tank (it's a HUGE 12x12x2 concrete water tank.) and what do you suppose I see in it, besides water... 2 either very stupid or very smart calves.

At that point I just gave up trying to keep the big calves from the little ones. Scarlett our bull had come up so there was NO way we could have chased them to the other pasture. I had to get the tractor (thankfully it still had the "forks" on it from feeding hay that morning) and go out to lift the metal pipe that is supposed to keep thing like this from happening up so that they could get out. Personally I think the tried to get hypothermia on purpose so I would feel sorry for them and move them back to the baby pen. As that's what happened... Bovines are great thinkers...

After all this went on nothing seemed to go right in my world with other bovines or in the milk barn with K. (Krisse). And for the record... Banamine tastes nasty! And don't even ask how I know... it's just one of those things...
