It's been a day... Right down to the last chore I managed to get done.
Yesterday I found out the the "survey" is going to be in the area this coming Monday and Tuesday. Normally they save the wonderful inspections for the spring. OH WELL! As always it will be the luck of the draw for who they come to see. So Monday will be spent cleaning and ignoring the guys if they come.
I got super cold yesterday also, so I was in bed by 8 that night.
Today morning chores went fairly well. However the bulk tank wasn't cooling down. SO after some fiddling around. I noticed that the breaker was switched flipped off so I try to turn flip it on and a bright light pops at the back of the bulk tank, I do it again and the same thing happens. SO I called Randy (De Laval repairman) and told him I did all I could do and I wasn't doing anymore and would he please come. After a toggle switch and yet another temp. controller all was well and the milk is cooling and all is right with the milk barn.
AND the GOATS are HOME!!! We are now complete animal wise. For the moment!!! :)
I asked for some help getting Scarlett, 2 steers and Passion (who had a heifer that I cried over last evening... I was so thankful she was a alive and she was a she!) anyway I wanted them out. Well I managed to get the bull and 1 steer out by myself. Then Passion (who's real name is Passion Flower... she was born in January when I was dreaming of warm weather and tropical flowers) Well she came up ALONE. Which sent me into a near panic... WHERE WAS THE BABY?!?! so we get everyone up to the holding pen and I hurry out in the dwindling light to hopefully find a live calf. After looking for a half hour I was in tear but I couldn't find a body. I head up only to find the little snot hanging with the big heifers.
I finally manage to get her in the big pen so I can catch her. That is after I find in the maze and multitude of big bovines. Long story short (my head is hurt and you'll find out why shortly) I caught her 3 times the 3rd time was the last. I had to get her to the truck. Never mind how. After all this we were both tired, hot, sweaty, and in a BAD mood. Little did I know how bad of a mood she was in or how bad of a mood I was about to be in. I had to get this little tank in the truck, so I bend over grab her front feet. She comes alive! She took her head (to top... her poll, the really hard and boney part where her horns will be coming in around) and hit my for head, nose, cracked my lip and bent my glasses. I did managed to get her in the truck and to the barn. I got back up to get her out and tided up though. I didn't feel the need to get hurt again.
Let me tell you it HURT and still does. I've got a black and blue knot on my for head. Thankfully my nose isn't broken (just swollen), and my lip is just kinda stinging... I'm so glad it's the end of the day.
After today... the price of milk just went up! JUST KIDDING!!!
Things I'm grateful for today... that I don't have a concussion and had to go to the ER. I don't have health insurance and we don't need another bill. I'm still thankful she is a she and that she is alive. Now to come up with a name...
Any idea's??? remember it must start with a P.

Hmmm ... Perky Peril? Pokey Pill? People Pusher?
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Thankfully most of the swelling is gone and I no longer have a constant headache.
All those names are fitting for our little girl... she is being everyone of them!
