Or all of the above... Friday evening when we went out to separate "dry" cows from the milking cows, I found that we had an uninvited visitor. YET AGAIN our neighbors bull was over on us. I was ticked to say the least. I chased that...... ARGH!!!!!! OH if I weren't a lady what wouldn't I say! TK came and walked the little darling home. With an "I'm sorry". I was so tired from chasing, separating, fighting with cows that all I could muster was a blank look. WHY can't they just keep the danged thing home? Is this asking to much?
Saturday mom and I went up to Weaver's Country Store and picked up 80 pounds of chicken (40 pounds of boneless/skinless breasts and 40 pounds of whole frier's). Which has been being canned or frozen since yesterday. Yesterday I canned 14 qt. of boneless/skinless chicken breasts and I froze 5 bags.
Today I have cooked and canned... 10 qt. of chicken noodle soup (I would have had 12 BUT this was also dinner.) and 11 qt of chicken and rice soup. And let me tell y'all something... it is SOOOOOOO good! OK both of them are. Is there anything better than homemade chicken soup?? NO... that canned stuff... oh ICK! Mine has onions, celery, carrots, corn, and potatoes along with noodles for the Chicken Noodle. And onions, celery, carrots and rice (duh) for the Chicken and Rice.
Right now I need to be putting glorified pigeons (the whole frier's) in freezers bags so they can go to the deep freeze. These poor little birds are about 2.7 pounds. The only thing that they are good for is broth, soup, noodles (MMMMMMM... homemade over mashed potatoes... good comfort food).
Tonight we are going to have our first frost... the low is supposed to be 25 I think. Brrr... This morning was the first morning I needed to wear gloves to do chores. Right now I'm a little chilled since it was cooler out that I bargained for. OH well so it goes... At least I'm not sick, I have a home to live in (even if it is falling in around us), I have my family, my cows, my friends, dogs, food, some heat, running water, warm clothes, shoes... When you think of how many men, women, and children world wide don't have a fraction of my short list of blessings... it makes you think.
What are your blessing?
