At times I do dread Fridays and the Weekly market update we get from the AJCA (American Jersey Cattle Association). But lately it's been wonderful. Well the past few weeks in the cheese markets have been a little nerve racking. ANYWAY!!! The good news is..... drum roll....
As copied from the market update :
July Milk Prices - Record High
This morning July's federal order Class III price was announced at
$21.38/cwt., $1.21 higher than June's price, and a whopping $10.46
more than July 2006. In addition, this price bested the previous record
set in May 2004 by $0.80/cwt. The Class IV price was $21.64, up 88
cents from June and $11.43 more than July 2006. If NASS prices follow
CME cash prices, August's price will be somewhat lower due to cash
cheese prices having lost nearly 20 cents/lb.off their June highs.
Also from the update:
The cash cheese market gained its second wind this week with blocks
picking up nearly a nickel per pound from last Friday's close. Action in barrel
cheese wasn't nearly as brisk with just a 1.5 cents/lb. increase. Cash butter
lost less than a penny on just two trades.
Thanks to the cheese price rebound, Class III futures turned upwards in a
big way this week. Contracts covering the remaining months of 2007 gained
an average of 85 cents/cwt. for the week and now average $18.53. Class IV
futures, on the other hand, average $19.95 for August through December,
indicating that Class IV prices will set the Class I price for the foreseeable
future.
Now back to me me me and my thoughts :)
Good news for farmers around the country. This is what always amazes me. Milk prices go up for us and they go up for the consumers. Now when OUR prices back off and we are getting less for the raw product the prices stay the same in the store. Some one as always is getting wealthy of the work of others.
And another thing that I have been pondering for awhile. People are scared to drink raw milk, BUT they aren't scared to eat raw vegetables, sushi, beef and so forth and so on. And if you have a baby and you are nursing you are giving your child raw milk, and they do so much better than if they had been given formula. I just don't understand. Maybe it just takes time, and people caring what they are really putting in their bodies.
In short this is how I feel about it. If God gave it to us in natural state it ALL good, even some refined things are good (olive oil even if I don't care for the taste), refined and packaged foods are the evil. And should if at all possible not be eaten at all and if they are only in moderation. I truly believe that God wouldn't give us food that would harm us, it's just that we have found a way to miss use what there is around.
OK I know your all board so I'll let this drop for now... and there will be a test!!!
Have a great weekend!!!!
