Yes I know there are good, nice, considerate, honest men out there, it just seems that a lot of the time I have to deal with the other side.
Take for example: Our riding lawn mower belt was going bad (right when I was just 10 little minutes from finishing). I have three options. #1 go in town to a store I wont do business with, #2 go over to where we bought the machine which is 20 miles from here , or #3 go to the BIG city (tee hee) which is 35 miles from us and they have a couple of stores. So over my better judgement I go to the one in town, A. I'm saving time (HA! I say HA!!), B. saving gas, and C. I can get the yard finished this evening.
OK so I go in the store and go back to the small engine department. I tell the man who is "helping" me I have a Cub Cadet 2150. That I need the long belt NOT the short belt, it's the one that goes from the engine to the mower deck and I give him what has always the part number. He precedes to look at me like I'm one of those people who are just not the brightest crayons in the box, and says (in a VERY condescending way) "There are 2 belts, one runs the blades and the other one goes from the engine to the deck. Now (very demeaning at this point and talking very slowly) are you sure it not the one that runs the blades?" Now didn't I just say it was the one from the engine????? Yes I'm sure it's not that one (or maybe it was but one is long and the other one is short) anyway I told him just bring out both of them and I'll take the longest one since that's the one that is broken. We he won't go without the correct part number. So I wait, by the time he has managed to find it, it's been 10 minutes,
Off he goes in to the parts room... personally I think it's just a room where they go to sit and have coffee JUST to make the people out waiting get grumpy LIKE ME! Anyway 15 minutes later he come back, sorry we don't have it, I can order it and have it here by Tuesday. I just looked at him, by this time I was hot, and not just because the store was warm. At that point I had had enough. I told him I can go and pick one up and option #2 store before then and don't bother, then I left the building!
I was SO ticked by then I had to call home and relate my tale of WHOA to a none sympathetic Krissie. All she did was laugh... Oh well... we did manage to get the belt with out any more problems. But it wasn't easy like it always used to be putting it back on.
Nothing much else has been going on here other than more calves being born, our well pump going out 935.36 later we have water pressure and I came in and had a good cry over the cost, the AC going out... had a repair man out (here we go again) he didn't look at but 15 minutes... didn't even take it out of the window, and told us, it needs to be cleaned. He'll do it for 200.00 PLUS the 94.00 and the 187.00. Or we can do it our selves, and it should work if not just call. OK so we are going to do the cleaning ourselves (this means ME since I'm the one who always seems to get these kinds of jobs.) Do this... It works worse than it did before!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a lot of sweat and tears, no blood. Amazing!!! I told the family to call and get a new one like we should have in the beginning!!!! It had already been one of THOSE days. So we did, now we are cool and comfortable.
Hmmm I can't really think of much more that is going on... We are needing to can green beans, and the tomatoes are really coming on... more work. I think I'm taking the afternoon to sleep or at least relax.
