Scout...

Do you just ever have one of those days were you really Really REALLY need a break from all of the daily things. You just need a day (more than 2 hours) away from home. Well today was going to be MY day. I was going to get chores done early and just enjoy my day away, after all I had planned this for over a week now.

Needless to say it didn't happen. Chores didn't go at all smoothly. I finished at noon and while mom and I were talking Scout and Ranger my faithful canine companions decided to chase a truck and trailer. Driven by a young Mennonite kid going way to fast. The same one who hit her when she had to have her tail amputated, the same one who hit her and left her in the road with a collapsed lung and now this. Scout was hit yet again. Thankfully she doesn't have any broken bones, she's just bruised and skinned up and had to have several stitches to close some nasty wounds. She just been out of it for the last few hours and waking up a grumpy girl.
She is on pain meds and antibiotic for 7 days. I'm so thankful she's alive. I don't know what I would do with out this dog. Our dogs are like part of the family. She's my bet buddy... even if she is a little nuts. And yes I believe in doggie heaven... in fact I believe all my animals that I've lost and loved will be in heaven.
So anyway the persons father who hit Scout has now threatened her. You see he has a vicious dog and sometimes he keeps him on a chain sometimes not or so he says... and if he's off he will kill her. Isn't there a law about knowingly keeping a vicious dog? They can't understand why we keep taking her to the vet. She's just a dog and if it were them they would just kill her rather than take her to the vet. After all it's better to hit a dog, cat, turtle, OK any small animal than flip a car. Their words NOT mine. My opinion... if you didn't drive so fast you wouldn't have to worry about flipping a vehicle! Just my humble opinion.
They know how Scoutie is... the young kids will taunt her into chasing them. Do you really have to drive 60 mph up and down country roads? How cruel can you be??

Sara, sounds like you need to dump a couple of loads of sand on your road, and when they start to fish tail it maybe they will slow down. Glad to hear the dog is OK.
